The SkySat Low/Mid altitude airships bring the concept of the Stratellite™ to lower altitudes, typically in the 10,000 - 30,000 foot (3,000 - 9,000 meter) range. It provides many of the same features of the Stratellite™ for communications and ISR but is used as a moving platform for ISR missions or a stationary platform for communications.

The SkySats can be programmed to have multiple missions with a rapid change of equipment. They can be shipped in normal size containers and can be readily deployed in areas as needed by government or business users. The SkySat is primarily used for communications and homeland and resource type security, both land and maritime based.

The SkySat is a traditionally designed airship designed to perform low to mid altitude missions for short durations of less than one week. The Skysat is capable of supporting both tactical and strategic missions. Due to the rich heritage of the “Cigar” based airship concept, the stability of the platform, flexibility in performance and relative simplicity in design, the SkySat brings all the advantages of mission variety, complete sensor compatibility and cost effectiveness to our customers.

Proprietary technologies combined with the ingenuity of world-renowned airship designers, provide the basis for robust intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and communications mission assurance through aircraft survivability, system reliability and low cost maintainability.

WSGI has designed and constructed an initial model of the SkySat which is a 127-foot long airship which has been designed for ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance). This classic design, with a multi-chamber lifting gas management system, provides a robust platform for a wide range of electronics suite applications. The airship loads are shared effectively distributed via lightweight structures. This results in weight savings which allow for greater mission endurance and onboard power production. This design permits integration of a large single sensor/telecommunications package.
